Diamonds are created when pure carbon crystallises, if another elements mixes
together with the carbon the diamond will have a trace of colour. The closer a
diamond is to having no colour, the rarer and more valuable it becomes.
The scale used by American Swiss to grade the colour of our diamonds is the
G.I.A Scale (Gemmological Institute of America). With the best grade on the
G.I.A Scale being a “D” (no trace of colour) and the lower graded diamonds
(S-Z) have a noticeable yellow or brown tint.
