PEARLS

Pearls of wisdom - caring for your pearls.

  • When a pearl ring is re-sized, the pearl must be removed and reset; only qualified jewellers can do this.
  • Pearls can be easily damaged by chemicals so put your pearls on after applying cosmetics, hairspray and perfume. Be careful not to apply perfume where the pearls make contact with your skin e.g: on your neck.
  • Pearl surfaces are relatively soft and can crack or scratch easily. Take care not to knock pearls on hard surfaces or corners. It is advisable to remove pearl jewellery when doing housework or gardening.
  • When cleaning pearls use a soft cloth with warm water only. Do not clean pearls with chemicals or abrasives. Never put pearls into an ultrasonic cleaner or expose to traditional jewellery cleaner.
  • Restring your pearls from time to time as the thread weakens and stretches with wear.
